New Year’s Resolutions, the first step, no matter what your goal, is to detox your bodies.

I first want to take the time to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. May you all enjoy this Christmas season.
With the New Year, starts the New Year’s Resolutions. The first step, no matter what your goal, is to detox your bodies. Detoxification is a straight forth concept; it is about eliminating toxins from the liver, kidneys, intestines, and skin. Every day we expose ourselves to all kinds of toxins. They can be from the environment, our lifestyle (diet/medications), as well as an internal imbalance (bacteria/fungus/stress). The average American now has 116 synthetic compounds inside the body. These include dioxin (from burning plastic), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (from auto exhaust) and organochlorine pesticides. Chemical exposure can cause a wide variety of symptoms, including fatigue, headaches, skin problems, digestive problems, recurrent Candidia overgrowth, and allergies. Under ideal circumstances, the body can detoxify completely on its own. However, once the toxins accumulate faster than the body can eliminate them, you begin to notice unhealthy effects.
Our liver is the main organ involved in detoxification. Toxins are eliminated in a two-step process, both steps require necessary vitamins and minerals. The goals of a detoxification program is to remove incoming toxins, restore natural processing and elimination of toxins, and to revitalize liver function. It should be noted that sufficient detox can be achieved naturally. The first step is to eliminate refined sugars and carbohydrates, as well as caffeine, alcohol and tobacco intake. The use of chemical based products and pesticides should also be avoided. Switch to diet high in fiber, which will bind to the toxins as it travels through our digestive system. Drinking water also helps the body neutralize the toxins. How much water is enough? We should be drinking half our body weight in ounces daily. For a 140 pound female, that equals 70 ounces of water! Adding a daily multi-vitamin, B-complex and fish oil to the diet will keep the body working in top order. Supplementing with vitamin C increases the production of glutathione, which helps cleanse the liver. Milk thistle (Silymarin) is also an anti-oxidant that protects the liver cells and aids in detoxification. As you start adding back the things that were eliminated, you may start experiencing digestion issues, migraines or other symptoms, this a sign that our bodies do not want what you are giving it. Continual detoxification involves making the necessary lifestyle changes to keep our bodies working at their prime.
Join us Tuesday January 6, starting at 5:30pm, as we discuss in more detail detoxification and the benefit it has on our health. Make this your first step this new year!
